Some might say I’ve made a habit of inquiring about security systems. I am a curious girl and I love to get to know more about the people I work and play with. Well, last week I was offered a chance to house sit for a relative of mine in Dallas. Home Burglary Botched by Neighbor

Luckily for one Texas resident, an observant neighbor botched a home burglary attempt. The off-duty law enforcement officer, Ralph Riley, noticed something suspicious at his neighbor’s home and decided to investigate.

He saw a pickup truck backed up to the house and a man, 25-year-old Rogelio Martinez Jr., loading items into it. Riley questioned Martinez and he said he lived there. Riley knew he was lying and told the man he was a police officer and ordered him to the ground. Pointing his weapon at Martinez, Riley asked a neighbor to call 911.

The police arrived and arrested Martinez. While searching the truck, they found numerous televisions, purses, and liquor bottles. It was clear that this wasn’t the burglar’s first time doing this. Police are continuing their investigation. They believe Martinez may be linked to other burglaries in the area. They are also still searching for an unidentified female accomplice.

Thankfully, Riley saw the suspicious activity and acted on his instincts. Whether it’s a car, person, or alarm system siren always call the police if something seems out of place. That is one of the safest and most dependable ways to catch a crook.
